Following the remarkable success of last year’s Free Dental Care Clinics, which served almost 2,000 Grenadians, the Sandals Foundation and Great Shape! Inc. are thrilled to announce the expansion of their health care missions in Grenada providing dental care and eye care this August.
For the first time, the Sandals Resorts’ philanthropic organization and US-based medical volunteer mission will host the life changing iCare clinic welcoming a team of 35 volunteer eye care professionals to help families improve their gift of sight.
The clinics, which will be held at the Grenville Secondary School from Monday 5th August to Friday 9th August seek to serve at least 300 persons per day for five days with free eye exams, laser treatments for glaucoma, and free prescriptions glasses, reading glasses and sun glasses.
Heidi Clarke, Executive Director at Sandals Foundation expressed delight in the expansion of the iCare clinics to the island.
“Our eyes are by far arguably the most important organs of sense as our sight impacts how we perceive our surroundings and how we navigate the world. Over the years, we have been fortunate to host free eyecare clinics in The Bahamas, Barbados, Saint Lucia and Jamaica through our extraordinary partners at Great Shape! Inc. We are delighted to now be able to share this critical programme with families in Grenada.”
And, continuing on its customary dental programme, the traditional 1000 Smiles dental clinics for children and adults will be held Sunday 18th August to Thursday 22nd August at the Westerhall Secondary School and Corinth Government School. Cleanings, fillings, extractions, fluorides and sealants will be provided on a first come, first served basis from 9am to 3pm.
The second week of free dental care will be offered from Monday 26th August to Friday 30th August, at the Westerhall Secondary School for all, meanwhile Corinth Government School will exclusively host children, for the Seal Grenada program which made its debut in 2023. The Seal Grenada programme seeks to improve preventative dental care; safeguarding children’s dental health at an early stage to prevent future decay.

The Great Shape! Inc. volunteer missions are made possible with Sandals Resorts providing accommodations and the charitable arm, the Sandals Foundation, spearheading logistics and offsetting the costs for transportation, as well as food and beverage for the clinics.
