Tyrrel Bay Express Operations
The Tyrrel Bay Express vessel makes weekly trips between Carriacou and Grenada on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Departure times are at 5:00 AM in Carriacou and 5:00 PM in Grenada. Customers can meet the boat before departure time at the Tyrrel Bay Port and at the Caricom Wharf in the St. George’s Pier (near shed three) respectively. Tickets can be purchased on-site from a representative at both departure locations, or at the Tyrrel Bay Express offices during the week.
The TBE boasts a number of unique features including a spacious air-conditioned lounge where passengers can purchase breakfast, snacks and beverages from the onboard cafeteria and enjoy entertainment on a wide-screen television. The vessel also offers vehicle transportation services which allow customers to travel between the mainland and Carricaou with their private or commercial vehicles. Cargo transport and charter services are also provided.
The Tyrrel Bay Express Offices
The TBE offices are located in Tyrrel Bay, close to the Alexis Food Stores supermarket in Carriacou, and in Old Trafford, Tanteen in Grenada. Both offices are open from Monday to Saturday. The Carriacou office’s hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily, while opening hours in Grenada are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Looking Ahead
The Pyxis Shipping Line Company has been in operation for almost four decades. Since their first vessel was launched in 1983 by founder Theo Alexis, the company has provided regular sea freight services with the original Alexia 1, 2, 3 and 4 and later the Amelia 1, 2, 3 and 4. Now with their newest vessel; the Tyrell Bay Express, they look forward to providing increasingly innovative and luxurious on sea transportation services to the Grenadian public for many more years to come.
