One week after the fatal shooting at Egmont, police have charged one person in connection with the incident.
22-year old Yohance Charles of Woburn appeared before Chief Magistrate Francine Foster today to answer three charges.
The accused was charged with Abetment of Capital Murder in connection with the death of 30-year old Delvon Thomas who was shot dead from a bullet to the head at the upscale property located in the South St George Constituency.
Charles was also charged with Abetment to attempt to commit Capital Murder in connection with the shooting of homeowner Linton Wharwood who was struck by a bullet in his Upper Arm.
A third charge was slapped on the Woburn resident for being in Possession of ammunition and a small quantity of cannabis that were discovered as part of the police operation into the shooting at Egmont.
The suspect appeared in court represented by Arley Gill, a former Magistrate in Dominica.
Charles will make his second appearance in court on September 8.
The suspect is believed to have been co-operating with police investigators for the past three days and giving them vital information about the Egmont shooting incident.
Charles is said to have led them to the house where the “Professional Killers” had taken up residence to finalise plans on the attack in Egmont.
The police reportedly discovered bullet shells at the location.
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Christopher Nelson gave the go-ahead to the Police on Sunday to press charges on the Woburn resident.
THE NEW TODAY understands that police have already lined up several key witnesses to give evidence on their behalf in the case.
The one-week investigation was able to discover that the shooting at Egmont was carried out by Two Professional Killers from Trinidad who were sent by a Gang Leader to execute a rival Gang leader following a feud between the two men.
The Gang leader who escaped the attack was reportedly visiting the island from his new base in Europe.
He is said to have left the house at Egmont moments before the “Hit Men” had arrived to take him out.
Within minutes of fleeing the crime scene, it is believed that the Trini killers moved out of Grenada through Woburn which they also might have used as the port of entry to come into the country illegally.
