A 30-year old man, said to be mentally troubled by neighbours, is now in police custody assisting them in a Thursday night murder in the Westerhall area of St. David.
The suspect, Brenton “Paper” Williams, used a cutlass to deliver some fatal wounds on another man known in the village as Renaldo Wise but who is better known as “Ballhead”.
An eyewitness to the incident posted a video on social media in which she said that the incident was sparked off by a dog which Wise reportedly stole from Williams.
She said that the murder suspect approached Wise to return his dog but instead received several blows from a cutlass being wielded by the deceased.
According to the lady, “Paper” eventually managed to get the cutlass from “Ballhead” and started to beat him back with the sharpened instrument.
“During the planarsing he (Brent) probably trip and stop planarsing and start chopping,” she said.
The female voice stated that her mother alerted the police who came onto the scene which is located close to the playing field in Westerhall.
“When the police come he (Paper) was still beating him (Ballhead) on the ground. He was still alive, he was still moving,” she said.
The young lady spoke of “Paper” quickly dropping the cutlass and surrendering to the police without giving any trouble.
She said: “He lift his hand, he showed them that he didn’t have anything on him. He go and sit down in the (police) van, then he asked the police officers to get him some water because his throat dry.
According to the account given by the eyewitness, the injured man was seen on the ground rolling around and moaning from the injuries sustained from the cutlass but died shortly afterwards.
“…He stopped moving and then ah tell the police look that man dead – look he body start to stretch out dey. They went and check him and then they realise that he dead but his eyes (were) open and everything.”
“Ballhead” is well known to police who have arrested him over the years for several acts of stealing.
