Moves afoot to keep out KMAN

Kman 6Ixx – a contract is believed out to kill him

Grenadians are up in arms over a show to be held on the eve of the island’s showpiece 50th anniversary of independence by a Trinidad controversial artiste who is linked to the ongoing bloody warfare between two rival gangs in the twin island republic which left several persons dead.

KMAN 6Ixx is a Trinidadian musician who is most well-known for his work in the Roots and Reggae music scenes. He is billed to perform at “OUR FETE” to be held on February 6th at the “COWPEN BIG YARD” in La Fillette in the St Andrew North-west constituency.

It’s being advertised on go2fete.com under the banner of “Rollout Promotions, The CowPen Big Yard & Bogozo Barbershop.” It says these two outfits present #OUR FETE Tuesday 6th February – Featuring live from Trinidad @kman6ixx. Paint Powder Mas, CowPen Big Yard.

Several Grenadians have expressed concern over the presence of KMAN on the island given attempts over the Christmas holiday period to assassinate him which left three of his associates dead along with an innocent bystander along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway between Curepe and St Augustine.

Within hours of the attempt on KMAN’s life, the US Department of State issued a travel warning to US citizens recommending that they reconsider travel to the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago due to crime. In October, the artiste survived another assassination attempt that was made on him by armed assailants which left him and another man injured as gunmen tried to kill him.

One prominent Grenadian called on the authorities to move swiftly to prevent the promoters of the show from bringing in the controversial artiste into the country. “I would also prefer that he is declared persona non grata in Grenada together with his entourage. It is alleged that some police in TT support him,” he said.

Another Grenadian in commenting on the KMAN issue said: “This is a serious matter. No work permit should be given,” while another stated that given the information coming to light about the artiste, “I wonder if after that they will give him permission … let’s see.”

A former legislator in Parliament offered the following comment: “We are headed in a wrong direction and into dangerous territory. I agree with you 100% (KMAN should not be allowed to perform).”

“For sure, this man is only going to cause mayhem and other forms of violence. He needs to stay as far out of Grenada as possible,” said a woman who is known to be a supporter of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell.

THE NEW TODAY understands that the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) and the Ministry of National Security are currently looking at the event planned for CowPen and will most likely arrive at the decision not to allow KMAN to perform on the island.

KMAN 6Ixx is suspected to be linked to the 6iXX gang whose main rival is the Seven Gang. “Sixx,” is the name used in Trinidad to identify a gang that reportedly broke away from the larger Rasta City gang, which went on to refer to itself as “Seven” in response.

According to underworld sources in Grenada, there is information in circulation that those hunting “KMAN” can be expected to dispatch a squad to Grenada “to take care of him” at the CowPen show. He spoke of elements from the Seven Gang already contacting their personnel on the ground in Grenada to assist in putting the logistics in place for a possible hit on the artiste.

In response to the ongoing debate as regards his suitability to perform in Grenada, KMAN put out a posting which read: “ Everybody hates KMAN cause there was two attempts on his life and lives were lost because of the music he sings, My only goal is to make a better life for my family and the people surrounding me, How I end up the subject?”

Five months ago, two professional killers from Trinidad entered Grenada through Woburn to carry out an execution in Egmont which left one person dead. There are also reports that a large shipment of powerful guns arrived on the island and are now in the hands of criminal elements in the country.

Just over one week ago, several shots fired from powerful guns rocked the Ghetto area on the Carenage which left residents taking cover including hiding under their beds.
