The Community of La Tante in St. David was on Tuesday plunged into mourning following the sudden death of 32-year-old Kendel Peters, who was found dead on Galby Beach in the nearby community of Marlmount.
Kendel’s body was reportedly found by a search party of mainly friends and siblings on Tuesday, lying naked and face down, one day after he was reported missing to police.
“My brother would be very missed and I love him dearly (but) if that is the way he had to go, God is in control,” the grieving sister told the media on Monday.
Family members confirmed that Kendel left home at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Sunday morning for a fishing expedition but never returned.
Family members circulated a photo of him on social media in an effort to alert and solicit the assistance of the general public in locating him.
Speaking with the media on Tuesday, the mother of the deceased said she learnt of her son’s death via a telephone call from one of her daughters who was among the search party when the body was found.
The grieving mother described her son as being a sickly but productive young man who loved gardening, fishing and hunting but was diabetic and suffered from Kidney disease.
She said that her son did not have anything to eat before leaving the house for Galby beach on Sunday morning and wondered if this did not trigger his death, as he was always in and out of the hospital” due to his ailments.
“He was not such a healthy child, so, I don’t know if that is what tripped him off because he didn’t have anything to eat before he go the morning, she said.
According to a statement from the Community Relations Department (CRD) of the Royal Grenada Police Force, an autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of death.
The release also thanked the general public for their assistance in finding Kendel.
