The vision, thoughts and ideas of Grenada’s future will take center stage at the Radisson Beach Resort in the Youth Leadership Symposium set for January 19.
Speaking at a recent 50th Anniversary of Independence Press Conference held at the Parliament Building at Mt. Wheldale, Project Officer for the celebrations committee Teah Cummings disclosed that the theme for the Youth Leadership Summit is “I can.”
It is a collaborative effort involving youths and professionals from throughout the tri-island state who will gather to discuss issues such as innovation and technology, non-traditional careers among other areas.
Cummings indicated that the symposium will provide an opportunity for the nation’s youth to utilise their problem solving and teamwork skills in order to create innovative solutions to the current issues impacting Grenada.
“We at the Independence Secretariat, we’re delighted to host the upcoming Youth Leadership Symposium themed, ‘I Can’ on the nineteenth of January in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture and The Grenada National Accreditation Board,” she told reporters.
The Project Officer said that youths from throughout the island will get the chance to unlock their potential as they get together to engage with fellow peers and industry experts.
“This symposium provides a platform for our dynamic youth leaders and experts who will provide insight on how our youth can realise their fullest potential,” she said.
Although the panel for the Youth Leadership Summit was not revealed at the press conference, Cummings gave assurances that the event will fully cater to the youth of the nation and that the personnel involved in the summit “will be our nation’s men and women.”
“We have a great lineup in store for our young people. It is for young people and by young people. This means that our keynote speaker, our panelists, our cultural presentation, our breakroom facilitators will be young people and we are incredibly proud to share and to host this initiative.
Cummings noted that the target audience is not only students from secondary schools but much older persons who are looking to become professionals.
“This symposium targets our young people between the ages of fourteen and thirty which includes youths within our school system, persons who are employed as well as persons who are transitioning into employment,” she said.
