Armed Bandits caught !!!

The two main suspects in the armed robbery at the GUT Credit Union office in Carriacou three weeks ago have been apprehended in St.  Vincent. Arrangements are being made to transport them to Grenada to charge them with the offence.

A police official told THE NEW TODAY newspaper that the plan is to bring the suspects  back to Grenada over the weekend to process them for an early appearance in court.

He said the local police have enough evidence including a confession statement  to press charges against the two Vincentians.

He confirmed that the posting on social media platforms of the video images of the suspects captured during the robbery helped to identity the men.

According to the official, one of the suspects admitted that the image shown was him but denied that he took part in the robbery. He said the other suspect who was apprehended is not co-operating with the police on the robbery incident.  He stated that the Grenada police had initially thought that the two bandits had fled to a neighbouring island controlled by St. Vincent but apparently went straight to the Vincentian mainland.

The armed bandits escaped with  $26,000 00 in the early morning attack on the Credit Union. Police are also planning to charge others who assisted with the armed robbery.
