I have waited for two weeks to see if my comrades in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would not react on Facebook and other Social Media platforms to something that was said by one Peter David, the turncoat now with NNP on the “To The Point Programme” with Blossom Alexis on GBN.
I heard Peter David making a statement which was contrary to the stated policy of the governing New National Party (NNP) of Dr. Keith Mitchell.
A few years ago, the then Minister of Education, Senator Simon Stiell said very clearly that government would be rigorously instituting the bond for students who got scholarships from government and other forms of assistance to attend universities overseas.
Sen. Stiell told the nation that it was the policy of government that these students should come back home and make a meaningful contribution in keeping with the bond for a few years towards the development of the country which provided the opportunity for them to advance personally.
That is the stated policy of the NNP administration. But I heard Peter David telling the GBN anchor person that he does not believe in that and that he had no problem with the student remaining outside of the country after completing their studies. So King David has a different policy position than the one being preached by NNP on the enforcement of the bond. Are there two NNP governments – one run by King David and the other one that was elected in 2018 under Keith Mitchell?
Oh how times have changed. Mr. David was a revolutionary just like me back in 1979-83 and the PRG sent many students abroad mainly to Cuba to come back home as doctors, dentists, engineers and so forth to provide a service to the country.
Today many of the same students are making a meaningful contribution to helping the poor people of this country.
Look at the same NNP government and you will see Dr. Clarice Modeste-Curwen who benefitted from a scholarship under the Revolution.
Even King David’s own sidekick Joe Gilbert got a scholarship from the PRG to go to Cuba to become the Engineer he is today.
And this Peter David is talking about remittances and money and not patriotism and service to one’s country. Shame on Peter.
Oh how Peter has deviated from what was instilled in all of us as revolutionaries by Comrade Maurice Bishop.
It is the same kind of thing King Peter did with NDC before he was expelled. He likes to run the mouth as if he has diaharrea. Remember the same Peter – The Traitor did not wait on the Prime Minister Tillman Thomas and the NDC government to announce to the people of Grenada that the airport at Point Salines will be renamed after Maurice Bishop.
Comrade Peter went to Cuba and made the announcement in a very selfish manner which we suspected was aimed at appeasing them after the Coard clique executed Comrade Bishop.
We in the revolution know that Peter was not on Maurice side but was aligned with the RMC during the split in the party and government in October 1983.
As a revolutionary with a sense of history, I know that Peter will eventually meet his Waterloo at some point in time.
Dr. Keith and NNP are using Peter, Chester Humphrey and the clique for window dressing and only fooling them into believing that one day he would hand over the power to them.
Like Peter bounce his head because Dr. Keith is not going anywhere and is getting ready to lead NNP into the next election.
Dr. Keith is getting into election mode and the first casualty is Tobias Clement in St. George North-east. Tobias is finished and knows that but is hopeless to do anything to save his skin. The Doctor is looking at St. George South and Nicholas Steele who is now an absentee in the constituency.
Even Peter should be careful as the very tricky Doctor might soon find a way to ease him out. Peter, Dr. Keith only wants one King in Grenada and not two. He used you to bring down the NDC government and will not give you a chance to bring down NNP.
Wait Peter wait – your time will come one day!!!
