Judging from the title of the heading, you would automatically assume that the change being referred to is a change of government. Truth is for the most part you are correct.
However, to affect this change, there must be a viable alternative.
Now, I am going to make this as easy and simple as I can. My first order of asking for change starts with the main opposition party, The National Democratic Congress (NDC).
I have always been a supporter of the NDC, I have an appreciation for doing anything positive that can deal with the dictatorial abuse of power that is being demonstrated by this present government. But make no mistake, there are some things within your organisation which needs urgent change from within the NDC.
(1). It is time to change the core leadership of the Party. A new slate of executive members will do the party well. The Grenadian people are tired of seeing some of the same old faces on the frontline. Some of these folks must now move to the back and offer support from a different perspective.
The likes of Glen Noel, Chris Derigs, and folks of that group must make room for fresh blood.
(2). There must be a new slate of candidates. More than 90% of your candidates need to be replaced. Your caretakers must see a total overhaul – Phillip Alexander, Claudette Joseph, Joseph Andall, Ray Roberts, Adrian Thomas, sorry but you need to make room for young, vibrant, and dynamic caretakers who can be good candidates to take the party into the next general elections.
(3). Time to change the leader. In this era where people are exposed to more, on all levels, the party needs to identify a leader.
- Charismatic
- Articulate
- Dynamic
- Healthy
- Educated (not necessarily with degrees)
- Caring
- Well groomed
- Family oriented (married even if)
- Stable
- Mentally strong
If these qualities can be found in someone who is under the age of fifty years old, then you have just hit the jackpot. But your current crop of leaders will not do.
(4). Time to change your methods of communication with the public – what you are doing is not working.
The party for the past ten years has not had enough growth in membership. The undecided number of voters is still extremely high, and that does not work well for the NDC.
The Party has absolutely no time to waste, frankly, the party is seven years behind on completing readiness for an election.
Only when these steps are taken then we can talk about the much-desired removal of the NNP administration.
Don’t take it personal NDC, just take it practical.
