I was hoping that by now that we would have been told that all structures are in place for the holding of the long-awaited promised PUBLIC inquiry in what is perceived to be full blown corruption in the Marketing and National Importing Board but this has not taken place.
This matter is of paramount importance for the well-being of our people, particularly our farming community, who have laboured over the years to produce an adequate supply of quality produce not only for local consumption for an ever increasing population, for the hotels, but also to cause a decrease in the importation of like produce and for us to export to earn much needed foreign exchange.
What has taken place there has deprived us of our expectations and there is the need for a PROPER and THOROUGH investigation into the matter in PUBLIC so that ALL parties of interest will hear of all that transpired and a determination be made as to what action should be taken to bring justice and to be better able to manage the affairs not only there but in all statuary bodies.
There must be no covering up, no stalling of due process by the authority – nothing must be done to hinder the establishment of the truth from coming out. Do not let partisan politics kill true democracy, the welfare of our people and the nation.
I trust that many have been listening and viewing what is taking place in the administration of the United States of America. I am deeply saddened and trust that we will not have to go through such in the interest of our nation.
Have the PUBLIC inquiry as provided by the laws of the State governing same.
