My attention was drawn to an article which appeared last week in the NEW TODAY newspaper which said that Grenada is not the fastest growing economy in the OECS as often boasted by members of the government in office.
I read the article carefully since it came from an established group known as ECLAC which is an organisation that I first became familiar with back in the days of the Revolution.
We have to give the PRG credit since it exposed a lot of us to groups like ECLAC, the Non-aligned movement and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
I did not have to wait on Black Wizard to sing the song about IMF to know about this group since I heard all about it back in 1979-83.
But coming back to this ECLAC report on Grenada, I really hope that somebody in government would come out and make a public statement and to challenge what the report is saying because many people like myself will conclude that the government has been lying to us.
I don’t think Sheldon Scott will be the right person to put forward the NNP position on the ECLAC report as he is now damaged goods as a result of “CellphoneGate” and nobody will believe anything coming from his mouth.
Perhaps, Dr. Keith should call on the goodly Senator, Winston Garraway to address the issue since many like me will conclude that the silence of the government means that the report is spot on and very true.
I have listened to Sen. Garraway many times in the Senate and in the media and consider him to be very faithful and a loyal servant of the Prime Minister and carry out his instructions to the T.
Please don’t send Sen. Simon Stiell as his foreign accent is a real turn-off to we the ordinary people. This guy just doesn’t cut it with us.
Sen. Garraway should be the man to come out and set the record straight on what ECLAC is saying that Grenada is really at the No.4 position and not No.1 as the government has been boasting in recent times.
By the way, Sen. Garraway please enlighten us on the doctorate that you got. Is it an online thing or you went to a recognised university to study for the doctorate? I can’t seem to remember you going away to study for this doctorate. Is this doctorate as good as the one that Dr. Keith has? I really want to know.
But this ECLAC report is constantly bothering me in the last few days and I beseech my government to say something on it before it is too late.
