While I commend The Traffic Department of the Grenada Police Force for their much talked about efforts to improve and control the traffic situation, I am deeply concerned about some area which I feel that there is evidently much more room for improvement.
The total disregard for law and order by some drivers; the need to have markings on the streets which are not applicable/relevant defaced and those which are applicable be kept brightly painted; remove traffic postings soon after the occasion for which they were posted .
The congestion and need for parking areas are well known; some vehicles are parked on sidewalks; parked less than 30ft away from corners; parked where there is No Parking written, but the markings are almost not discernible and where such marking are discernible, I ask myself, are they applicable 24/7, do they apply at night and public holidays? All those need to be addressed.
Also, why is it that vehicles among them buses are allowed to park in front of the exit for the Fire Brigade even though NO PARKING is clearly marked there?
What signal does such violation send to the public? John public may feel if such is allowed under the nose of the Traffic Department/Central Police Station, then nothing is wrong if it is done elsewhere. As a matter of fact the need to use modern technology/cameras be it in the courts, on the streets or elsewhere is desirable.
