I am forced to write this letter to my fellow NDCites with our convention coming up in November to elect a new Political Leader to replace the interim one, Joseph Andall.
A lot of back door maneuverings are taking place by some arm chair generals to influence the process and to get particular persons of their choice to become our new Political Leader.
A few persons in my constituency told me that approaches were made to them about one Dr. Patrick Antoine to be considered as the Political Leader because he is not afraid of Keith Mitchell and will bring in a lot of money into NDC to match NNP in the next election.
The people who are trying to push for Dr. Antoine also told our people in my constituency that the NDC has to start playing the Doctor politics like NNP with Dr. Mitchell and that Dr. Antoine has plenty of international connections and know people in high places.
A few of them asked me what I think of Dr. Antoine as our new political leader and it made me feel so sad.
I told them that Dr. Antoine is not a member of NDC and if and when he becomes one that he should not even consider running for the top position as Dr. Mitchell will slaughter him and NDC like in a meat stall whenever an election is called.
I had to explain to them that the same Dr. Antoine’s name is calling in the MNIB jump up along with Ruel Edwards and as NDC members and supporters we cannot afford to take any chances with him.
I went on further to explain that although the investigation is still in the air and that Dr. Antoine is considered an innocent person because he has not been found guilty of any wrongdoing, that we all must think of the implications this can have for our party in a worst case scenario.
My position is that our party must play safe and look for a new leader who can follow in the footsteps of Uncle Tilly with integrity, decency, and above all a commitment to the Good Governance philosophy of all our past leaders – George Brizan and Sir Nicholas Brathwaite.
Can the same be said of Dr. Patrick Antoine? As NDC’ites we cannot take any chances and put him in charge of our party. We do not know what Dr. Mitchell is holding over his head also the same Terry Forrester.
Let us play it safe and replace Mr. Andall with someone who we can trust like Franka Bernardine or Claudette Joseph. I will even support Uncle Tilly coming back as our Political Leader rather than look at Dr. Patrick Antoine.
My choice right now is for Franka as she has more of a national appeal than Claudette and is more respected than any other senior member of the party among the people.
NDC’ites, let us support someone like Franka as our new leader and not fall for the selfish power seekers who have their own personal agenda and want to drop a leader on us from the sky who do not understand our philosophy for running this country.
