Dear Mr. Prime Minister,
I’ve sat and watched/listened to you ridicule Dickon Mitchell for speaking proper English (in appropriate settings), being educated and well-read and now wearing a suit on Nomination Day. You’ve ridiculed him for his age and appearance.
You are an educated man, the Minister of Youth. Why are you so anti-education and anti-youth? What is wrong with speaking well? What is wrong with dressing well? What is wrong with being educated? What is wrong with being well-read?
Instead of uplifting your supporters, you stand on the platform sounding so jealous. Sounding so envious.
Instead of uplifting your supporters, you stand on the platform encouraging them to scorn education, the very thing many of them need to improve their circumstances.
So many of our young men don’t own a proper dress shirt, pants or belt. Most don’t own a suit. I see them coming to court with distressed jeans and party shirts that they fight to tuck into pants.
Our young people, especially our young men are yearning for upliftment. For good role models. Mr. PM, you know better. Please do better.
