What kind of government would want to charge the employers of its citizens for keeping them in quarantine for 14 days back on Grenada?
The fact that the employers agreed to return OUR citizens safely should be appreciated. Trying to charge the employers EC$9,500.00 per person for each person while in quarantine for 14 days is extortion.
It’s a crying shame … these people are Grenadians and we should be happy to have them back. Besides how was this $ figure calculated? Was anyone to be paid commission/finder’s fee from those monies?
Finally, look where these people were put – a rundown, unclean, dilapidated place. I am happy that these people did not accept substandard and protested.
Where is the quarantine location that the Minister of Health said was in place?
The Grenada government is demonstrating to the world that our citizens are not important. They care only about people who they think can give them money.
There were some Italians who refused to be quarantined and left. Who was paying for them to be quarantined here?
This government has no darn shame.
On a slightly different matter, I think that some of the pronouncements made by the Prime Minister on Sunday night in the national address were premature.
Before getting results of PCR tests on the cruise ship workers, he decides to open up when some have been known to be exposed to the virus.
The Prime Minister has even set June 1 as the date to open the ports and that is only a couple weeks.
People in larger countries have already booked to come in at that time. Why does he not wait until after the curve is flattened and there is no second or third waves from the epicenters?
I think that he is under pressure and this decision is being made for him. We, the people ought to speak out against too much relaxation.
