It is said that if you tell a lie long enough and strong enough people will begin to believe it. This concept has worked time and time again historically and politically especially when it comes to Communism and Nazism. It is the stock in trade in the commercial and entertainment world.
Carnival aficionados make no bones about their intention to transform us all into jabs (devils). This has been their declared objective for several years. They keep on trying to sell Grenada as devil country. Probably they are saying this with tongue in cheek but like court jesters they fail to realise the ramifications of their course joke.
The Holy Scriptures warn against filthiness, foolish talking, and jesting “which are not convenient.” What some consider to be fun, God and even the devil take very seriously. While God warns against trivialising evil the devil encourages it because it promotes his agenda to demoralise and demonise persons and nations.
How can we sing on one side of our mouths “ever conscious of God” and on the other side classify ourselves as “110,000 jabs?” There has to be a disconnect here! Perhaps a cultural war is on, because not all of us agree with the sales pitch. It may be that almost eighty per cent of this nation is sold out to the devil but this is not true of all, neither is it the aspiration of the other twenty percent.
Sales pitch influence the minds and manners of people. We are seeing the fruits of carnival advertisements all around us as the culture steadily sinks deeper into immorality, depreciation, and vulgarity. For many people the worse carnival gets is the better it gets because they are achieving their agenda. It attracts more people especially from abroad and presumably more foreign exchange.
Tens of thousands of dollars are spent on alcohol as people pour in from the U.S and neighbouring islands. Businessmen as well as people in the tourist industry are smiling at their good fortune. We are focusing on a false concept of culture while spiraling downward into oblivion.
Our youths and children are in crisis because of the lack of a moral compass. As our nation decays morally and culturally we do not have much of a heritage to transmit to future Grenadians.
When we honour the devil he gives what only the devil can give – short-term success and pleasure with long-term failure and pain. Conversely, when we honour God he blesses us with genuine success and abundant, eternal pleasures.
All those who desire to be “jabs” may have their just deserts but not without resistance from praying people in our community who mourn for the Grenadian Zion. As prophets we will proclaim righteousness to our nation and as priests we will petition God that he might save us from our ignorance and folly.
NO! THERE WILL NOT BE 110,000 JABS IN GRENADA. INSTEAD 110, 000 GRENADIANS WILL FOLLOW JESUS AND LIFT THEIR HANDS IN PRAISE TO GOD.
We declare that the cow’s horn will be replaced by the ram’s horn (shofar) and will proclaim liberty over the land from the powers of darkness. We declare that the conch shell will be replaced by the trumpet proclaiming the praise of the Lord.
We declare that the skins covered with black oil will be clothed with the pure garments of righteousness. We declare that the mournful, meaningless, mutterings of the jabs will be replaced with the joyous songs of Zion.
