Once again the people of Grenada have been dealt an expensive, humiliating and costly blow by our Court of Appeal. By the way, we were represented by Keith Mitchell’s choice Solicitor General, his brilliant Attorney General, other counsel and a very expensive Queen’s or very Senior Counsel, all to no avail.
Maybe the self-styled “Ruler of Grenada for life” will learn, just like President Trump is now learning, that all the world will not see the truth through our own lens.
The Judgment handed down by our Court of Appeal on November 27, 2020 in the case of Muhammed Ehsan should come as no surprise to the current Attorney General. He argued the same points with me while I was Attorney General and we agreed, in a similar matter, where his client married a Grenadian woman and operated a marina and entertainment business in Lance Aux Epines.
Keith Mitchell decided to prevent the man from travelling to Grenada for the same reason, “national security”, whatever that means in the warped mind of our dictator Prime Minister. My advice to Keith Mitchell then was that the action was unconstitutional and I had a very long discussion on the matter with his Head of Security, Mr. Cletus St. Paul.
Well Prime Minister Mitchell’s ego said differently. “I am the Prime Minister of Grenada and if I say he can’t come to Grenada or if I take back his passport then that’s it!” But Sir, that attitude continues to cost us very dearly and we don’t have the money. So, we have to divert money which we ought to be spending on other things, just to feed your ego.
I wonder if the current Attorney General told him his true and genuine legal conclusion on the matter and our Prime Minister insisted on holding on to his view. We might only know this after the next elections when Keith Mitchell is out of power and the AG is then seeking to gain favour with the new administration in Grenada.
Look, I am seriously confident that there is no way that Keith Mitchell will win another Parliamentary election in Grenada. You may call me crazy, deluded, paranoid or whatever, but I believe in Grenada, I believe in the intelligence of our people, and most of all I believe that it is God who rules in the kingdoms of men and gives power to whosoever He wills.
Grenada has had enough of this corrupt, ungrateful, egotistical, spiteful, dishonest and uncaring liar who cares for no one but himself. He should be singing every day, “you know it’s true, everything I do, I do it for me!”.
In my view, Attorney Generals and other public service professional counsel are not there to give the Prime Minister what he wants, but because they represent the country, Grenada, they must give the best professional advice in the interest of Grenada.
Have we been playing the hypocrite or have we had our sound legal advice rejected? Notice that President Trump had to go outside of White House counsel to pursue his wild election fraud claims because state counsel would not get involved. Take note Mr. Attorney General!
Loss after loss in court does not and will not deter this Prime Minister from doing exactly what he wants. He just blame it on the lawyers and then gets some other lawyers. He squanders the money that we have in the treasury on expensive lawyers when it is the state’s business caused by his reckless and spiteful acts, but when it is his divorce matter or his defamation matters he uses local, cheap and even free legal representation.
Stingy with his own money but freehanded with our money. What a most wicked man!! He will not spend his millions to pay lawyers for his own private affairs but he splashes the cash when it does not come from his own pockets. But that is not all, after he spends more and more in going to the highest courts possible, when he still loses he then refuses to pay the person who has won.
The final hurdle is now to force him to pay and now he says that the country has no money to pay, cannot afford to pay, and lawyers who try to enforce the judgment for their clients are wicked and unpatriotic. He continues to say this about Mrs. Edwards, Q.C. whose clients he refuses to pay even after success at the Privy Council, because he says that she is too greedy! LOL! LOL!
Isn’t it the same so-called “greedy, wicked, and unpatriotic” person he is using in his own divorce matter? Please correct me if I am wrong because I cannot afford a million-dollar suit like the one against Claudette.
Jimmy Bristol is “wicked, greedy and unpatriotic” because he goes to court to enforce judgment for his clients that have been wronged by this small and vengeful Prime Minister. Now, he vows that Jimmy will never be made a Queen’s Counsel, “over his dead body” because Jimmy simply did his work, according to law, as an effective and efficient counsel.
Then he seeks to elevate himself as the final judge in Grenada by making comments about the court’s judgment in public, saying that it is wrong. Gemma Bain deserves nothing! Dorset Charles deserves nothing! Clear and open rebellion against our very court system!
So, the only recourse is to the Dictator Keith! He rules Grenada and what he says goes! He can put his young concubine in charge of the Ministry of Finance and even his NNP party! Who is anybody to say no to him?
But I have left the biggest irony for last! He has now lost in court in this case, despite bringing on his most expensive and “smart” team, to none other than Victor Nazim Burke, the very man whom he has derided and mocked so much over the years in Parliament! Yes, the same NAZ that he hates so much! The same Naz that he boasts about ending his political career! Heartiest public congratulations NAZ!
Just like in the days of Nebuchadnezzar, the handwriting is on the wall, Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Claudius Mitchell! If you wish to spend the last few years of your life enjoying some of your ill-gotten gains in some semblance of peace, you need to bow out now or face the ignominy of a crushing defeat. Your downfall will be great and painful, Mr. Humpty Dumpty!
A word to the wise is enough.
