In recognition of this milestone, the Anglican Parish of St. George has organised a series of activities, commencing with an official launch on Sunday 23rd February, at the St. George Anglican Parish Church, Church Street, St. George’s commencing at 4:00 p.m.
The Launch will be held under the Patronage of Mrs. Glenda Mason-Francis, retired Principal of the Anglican High school and a Lay assistant in the Church.
The special service will take the form of Evensong, and a presentation on the History of the Anglican Church, by local historian Dr. Angus Martin. There will be special items by groups and individuals of the church and community and the unveiling of the theme for the celebrations.
A series of activities are scheduled as we journey onwards to our 200th Anniversary. These include public fora and discussions, Exhibition and Extravaganza, Health Fair, Community Outreach programmes.
The Church over the years has been an integral part of the St. George Community, engaging in moulding the minds of several of our citizens through Christian formation, education, community involvement and culture.
We boast the existence of three primary schools (St. George’s Anglican Junior School, St. George’s Anglican Senior School and Mt. Moritz Anglican Primary School and a secondary school, the Anglican High School). All these educational institutions have a track record of excellence in education.
There are four Anglican churches in the Parish of St. George with several vibrant groups and organisation.
