The business sessions will be held at the Grenada Trade Centre Annex, Morne Rouge, Grand Anse, St. George’s, Grenada, from Monday 6th to Wednesday 8th October, 2025. The synod is being held under the theme: “The Church At A Crossroads#Inspiring, Rebirth, Commitment and Community Through Creative and Authentic Ministry”. The synod meets every three years to take counsel for the renewal and mission of the Church.
The Diocese of the Windward Islands is one of the eight dioceses of the Church in the Province of the West Indies and consist of three nation states, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada (which includes Carriacou and Petite Martinique) and St. Lucia. In the Diocese these are referred to as Archdeaconries. Clergy and Lay Representatives from the three Archdeaconries are expected to assemble in Grenada for the synod.
The Synod meets under the chairmanship of The Rt. Rev’d C. Leopold Friday, Bishop of the Windward Islands. The synod will be divided into the following clusters:
1. Education, Schools.
2. Christian Formation
3. Youth & Servers
4. Family life
5. Organisations.
6. Finance and Property
7. Social concerns
8. Communication – Information Technology- Theology and the Church.
9. Administration and Implementation.
The Synod will reflect on the decline in attendance at worship, modernity and the increasing lack of the need for God, discipleship, vocations, Christian Formation, good health practices, global warming, the Church Hazards and Disaster management, Communication, Information technology and the Church, Issues surrounding Family life, youth ministry, Human Dignity and Social issues: the poor and needy, the elderly, crime and violence, governance among others as we endeavor to chart the way forward for the Diocese for the next three years as The Church participates in God’s Mission and Ministry.
