A native of Fontenoy, Sheena became the first national to attain the prestigious Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation in January 2022 and also the first to complete the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA ) designation in February 2022.
No easy feat, these investment and risk management qualifications are some of the toughest in the industry while at the same time are highly respected. According to the Global Association of Risk Professionals, FRM is the leading certification for risk managers and is consistently in demand by nearly every major bank and firm in the world.
The CFA Institute describes this designation as one of the highest distinctions in the investment management profession in which fewer than one in five candidates are successful.
A multifaceted finance professional, Sheena is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). Humble amidst her many achievements, Sheena reflects on the challenging journey and the rewards of tenacity and diligence.
“Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again.” Sheena has never allowed failure to stop her. She is a testament of great resilience and emphasizes that these qualifications without passion are meaningless.
The beginning of a new chapter
Sheena believes that it is time to redefine our region. “We need more finance professionals in the ECCU who are committed to altering mindsets and driving capital market development.
In the case of individuals, there needs to be a change in perspective and culture from one of indebtedness to ownership and wealth creation. For corporations, utilize the regional capital market and let it work for you.
These changes cannot be made in isolation but through education and collaboration.”
A founding partner of Beckles & Regis Consultancy (B&R), Sheena has taken advantage of a golden opportunity to put her words into action.
Following her tenure at an affiliate of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and 15 years in the financial industry, she embarked on a consultancy journey this year.
Beckles & Regis Consultancy was established to bridge the gaps in investment advisory and risk management through the provision of a flexible range of integrated services which are not readily available in the market.
As the first licensed Investment Adviser-Company of the ECCU, B&R’s vision is to become the Caribbean’s leading financial adviser, penetrating the region with services that influence lives and improve livelihoods.
