The President of Concacaf and Vice President of FIFA, Mr. Victor Montagliani, paid a special visit to the proposed site of the Grenada Football Association’s (GFA) Technical Centre on Friday, May 9, 2025. The project, located in Simon, St. Andrew, is set to become a national hub for football development, supported by FIFA funding and Concacaf endorsement.
Joining Mr. Montagliani were members of the Concacaf delegation, Hon. Delma Thomas, Minister for Sports, Mr. Victor Clarke, British High Commissioner, GFA President Mr. Marlon Glean, General Secretary Mr. Carl Lee, and members of the GFA’s executive and technical staff.
The visit allowed stakeholders to tour the site, discuss development plans, and reaffirm their commitment to football advancement in Grenada. Mr. Montagliani praised the vision behind the project and its location in a historically football-rich community. He also emphasized that quality infrastructure is essential for performance, youth development, and global perception.
Minister Thomas commended the GFA for its inclusive approach, bringing national-level facilities to rural communities. She expressed the government’s ongoing support for the initiative and reinforced the importance of sports in national development.
British High Commissioner Victor Clarke reiterated the UK’s support for Grenadian football, highlighting recent collaborations with the English FA and expressing interest in long-term partnership opportunities.
GFA President Marlon Glean noted that construction of the facility is expected to begin in the coming months. Plans include a full-size grass pitch, artificial turf training pitches, a mini stadium with a 2,000-seat capacity, technical offices, changing rooms, and accommodation facilities. Once completed, the Centre will serve as a key venue for national training, youth development, and regional competitions.
