The St. George’s No.2 Magistrate’s Court has initiated a Coroner’s Inquest to probe into the tragic January 3, 2020, early morning crash that claimed the life of 32-year-old Businessman, Horndell Andall of Corinth, St. David.
Legal counsel for the family, Attorney Jerry Edwin on Wednesday confirmed that Magistrate Tahiera Gellineau is overseeing the proceedings, scheduled to resume “during the second week of February,” at the No. 2 Magistrate’s Court within the Southern District.
The primary objective of the inquest is to ascertain the official cause of Andall’s death just over four (4) years ago.
The 32-year-old, who was affectionately known as ‘Santana’ was the driver of a blue Nissan Tida that collided with a Jeep Wrangler around 7:00 a.m., on the tragic day, resulting in his death despite efforts to rush him to the St. George’s General Hospital.
A notable aspect of the inquiry is the absence of eyewitnesses to the fatal accident.
Attorney Edwin has clarified that “there were only motorists passing by and persons who heard the crash, but in terms of persons actually seeing the point of impact with their own two (2) eyes that never occurred.”
The circumstances surrounding the crash have sparked speculation, with indications that Andall’s fondness for loud music and fast driving may have played a role.
Despite the challenges posed by the circumstantial nature of the inquest, Attorney Edwin remains hopeful about uncovering the truth.
Known colloquially as “a bad boy,” Andall operated a popular bar on St. John’s Street, and had legal matters pending before both the Magistrate’s and High Courts in St. George up to the time of his untimely death, which was the first road fatality recorded in 2020.
