Gouyave has been hit by another shooting incident.
A police official told THE NEW TODAY that officers attached to the Gouyave police station are investigating a shooting incident Sunday in which one man was shot in the area of the eye with a flare gun on Mongo Road.
There are unconfirmed reports that the incident between the two men could be related to gambling.
According to a resident, one man left the gambling area and came down to Central Gouyave, took a drink of rum and also a smoke before going back to Mongo Road where the incident took place.
A young lady was also reportedly caught by police with an illegal firearm in Gouyave on the weekend.
THE NEW TODAY is looking into the reports that a young female was held Sunday around 2.00 p.m. in possession of an illegal firearm.
Gouyave has been a hotbed of violence within the past week.
Just over one week ago, an eleven year old school boy was shot in the arm by a stray bullet allegedly fired from a gun by an individual known as Johnathan Richards.
The 26-year old accused appeared in court on Tuesday and was remanded to the Richmond Hill prison until his next court appearance fixed for May 11.
