“Government vehicles should be regularly sanitised at the responsibility of the assigned Departments’.
This was one of the guidelines given by the Department of Public Administration (DPA) of the Keith Mitchell-led ruling New National Party (NNP) government to govern the operation of the public service during the coronavirus pandemic.
A copy of the document as obtained by THE NEW TODAY seems to suggest that the Management of the St. George’s General Hospital and several government ministries and departments were in breach of the protocol based on several complaints coming from public officers especially nurses.
According to a senior nurse, the Hospital bus was never once sanitised to provide transportation to transport staff from their home to work, and also from work after their shift had been completed and to get back to their homes.
The workers also complained that the bus never had any hand sanitisers for them to use on entering the bus in keeping with the protocol.
As a public service, THE NEW TODAY reproduces in full the protocol that was put together for the public service by DPA in the fight against COVID-19:-
