Murder in the North

The weekend has been marred by a murder in Grenada.

A police official told THE NEW TODAY that the murder took place in the village of River Sallee in the St Patrick East constituency.

He said the details are rather sketchy but the murder took place apparently over money in a gamble in an area called “The Cliff” which is notorious for gambling activities on the island.

“They live in The Thunder opposite White Dust. They have a gambling shop next to them,” said someone familiar with the area.

There are reports that the throat of the murder victim was slashed.

Both the murder suspect and the deceased are said to be cousins and living in the same yard in the small community.

The individual who was killed is known by the name of “Knoxford” to villagers and the suspect has been identified by the alias “Chubby”.

According to the source, a manhunt is currently underway to look for the suspect, in an operation spearheaded by members of the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) and fellow villagers who are familiar with the area.
