The judge sealed the files officially.
This is what THE NEW TODAY was told about the court matter filed by Marietta Mitchell, the embattled wife of former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell who has instituted divorce proceedings to end their nearly 50 years of marriage.
According to a well-placed source, the sitting judge, Justice Raulston Glasgow “has ordered that no information on this (court matter) should be published at all.”
It’s actually like a kind of Gag Order,” said the source.
The approach to get the judge to seal the file was done on Dr. Mitchell’s behalf by his attorney Kim George, a former Senator in the Upper House of Parliament for the main opposition New National Party (NNP).
The former Grenadian leader is said to be angry and upset over the manner in which THE NEW TODAY was able to get the documents filed in court by Mrs. Mitchell about their legal battle.
Keith Mitchell has reportedly accused attorney-at-law Deloni Edwards of the law firm of George E.D Clyne, who is representing his wife in the court case, of being the person who leaked the information.
The legal source pointed out that the effect of the action taken by Justice Glasgow is that no media house on the island can report on the documents contained in the file.
THE NEW TODAY understands that Mrs. Mitchell has also instituted legal proceedings in a court in New York against her husband to settle millions in assets including an apartment complex on Linden Boulevard in Brooklyn.
The source said the legal battle between the two have already started and is of much greater importance than what is taking place in Grenada.
He described it as “the main issues” in trying to settle the Divorce proceedings between Mrs. Mitchell who continues to occupy the Matrimonial Home at Happy Hill and Dr. Mitchell who now lives in a multi-million dollar mansion in Diamond in St. Mark.
