Criminal defense attorney, Jerry Edwin is complaining about a lack of respect being shown to him by the island’s Guyana-born , Darshan Ramdhani on matters relating to clients who allegedly fell afoul of the law.
According to Edwin, he has written several letters to AG Ramdhani which has remained unanswered after several days.
The outspoken attorney-at-law has released to the public two letters he has sent to the Attorney General seeking settlement on behalf of his clients.
Following are two of the unanswered letters:

Re: Proposed Settlement of Civil Claims of KELLON EDWARDS, JODY DYETTE, TYRON GARRAWAY, ALPHA MCDONALD, RYAN JOHNSON, ORLANDO MONTERAM, JANIEL DOUGLAS, STEPHEN THOMAS, SHERONA STEPHEN and SHONELLI LA QUA
Dear Mr. Attorney General:
I represent the above-referred in connection with several undisputed complaints: The unjustified home invasion and constitutional breaches against homeowner Shonelli La Qua; multiple assaults, in some cases beatings, unjustified detentions, wrongful arrests and gross negligence – all egregious offenses committed disappointingly by officers of the Royal Grenada Police Force.
The incident complained of occurred in Woburn on April 24, 2020 around 5:00 p.m. when officers without invitation or warrant, entered through a 6ft gate leading to Ms. La Qua’s home and arrested Nine (9) persons who were either resident or had been visiting from the United States.
After posting bail around 9:00 p.m. they were thrown out on the sidewalk of the Police Station and told to “walk home” while the national curfew was in force.
This Letter serves Notice of my clients’ intention to commence legal action in light of the foregoing. Like all litigants they are seeking an offer to settle under amicable terms in Fourteen (14) days.
Thank you for your usual courtesies.

Re: Proposed Settlement of Civil Claim of Jamal Charles, Willian Charles and Dunston Charles
Dear Mr. Ramdhani:
I represent the above-referred persons in connection with a shooting incident in the early morning of Sunday July 5th 2020 in the neighborhood of Gun Battle in the Town of Gouyave St. John. Jamal Charles, the son of Willian Charles was shot in the upper thigh by Cpl Garcia, a CID officer attached to the Gouyave Police Station.
The entry to my client’s home allegedly to arrest Dunston Charles was without judicially authorized warrant; neither were exigent circumstances extant.
My Clients categorically assert that the shooting of Jamal was without a scintilla of legal rationale, was grossly negligent and it violated every conceivable protocol of the Royal Grenada Police Force. RGPF officers illegally forcefully entered the curtilage and home of Willian Charles and assaulted her and her two sons who experienced acute shock and fear from the shooting.
The RGPF’s negligence includes its breach of duty to supervise and or managing the ammunition issued to the officer who shot Jamal Charles.
Consequently, this Letter serves Notice of my client’s intent to commence legal action in a court of competent jurisdiction to recover damages for the wrongful, illegal, grossly negligent and extraordinary conduct of officers of the RGPF.
My clients are committed to an amicable settlement of this matter. Should we fail however, please be advised that the claimants will seek judicial intervention in 14 days for appropriate redress.
Thank you for your usual courtesies.
