A former government minister with the New National Party (NNP) has hit out at former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell who suffered defeat in Thursday’s poll at the hands of 44-year old attorney-at-law, Dickon Mitchell of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The ex-government minister who did not wish to be named described the 75-year old PM Mitchell as one who was very vindictive and had an obsession with money and felt that everyone had a price-tag and could be bought.
Dr. Mitchell, the longest serving Prime Minister on the island, was defeated at the polls when the NNP lost 9-6 to Congress.
The former government minister sent the following statement to THE NEW TODAY:-
“Well, there is an old saying ,.. if you can wait long enough, you will see ants belly. I waited 22 years, to see how Dr. Keith Mitchell’s political life came to an end. In my book, he cannot go down in the history of this country as a Grenadian hero because there are those who would see him as a person who has no RESPECT for the Citizens of our country.
Others may claim that he was VINDICTIVE with an obsession for MONEY and PRICE TAGGED those whom he thought he could use conveniently, not knowing Grenadians are a race of PROUD people.
Many Patriots have suffered injustices because of his selfish and arrogant ways. For those who may not know him well, ask any PBC past student – they will tell you the truth about the man.
The only good thing I can say about him is that he will help you, but behind your back he would say degrading things, those who like hand-outs, lazy and unproductive adore him. …so too are those who are dishonest. But the irony, we all have to swim in the same waters.
Grenadians, that’s not who we are as a people. It’s unfortunate that one bad apple almost spoil the lot. Let us forgive him and move on. God is not asleep, let’s thank him for the CHANGE.”
