Covid-19 hits TAMCC

The T.A Marryshow Community College has become the latest institution to be affected by the virus

Grenada’s sole tertiary institution, the T.A Marryshow Community College (TAMCC) has been affected by the Covid-19 virus that is now sweeping across the island.

According to well-placed sources, the IT Department at the Tanteen-based school has been closed due to the discovery of a case there.

One insider told THE NEW TODAY that other staff members at TAMCC are “showing symptoms” of being affected by the deadly virus.

He said that the cleaning staff is angry as a senior official of TAMCC “sent the workers to clean the affected department without even telling them” about the Covid-19 case there.

THE NEW TODAY was also able to obtain correspondence dated Friday, September 3, 2021 from the Registrar of TAMCC, Marva Bowen-Neptune confirming that the college is now affected by Covid-19.

To: All TAMCC <[email protected]>

Dear TAMCC Community

Greetings! I trust everyone is keeping safe.

It is with regret and a deep sense of sorrow that I report (name withheld) learnt today that he has a positive PCR COVID-19 test and (name withheld) a positive antigen test. (Name withheld) has to wait on the ministry to administer a PCR Test.

Let me take the opportunity to wish both gentlemen a speedy recovery.

The expectation is that they will self-Isolate and contact the Ministry of Health to arrange for follow up testing if necessary.  They are also advised to have negative test results before they return to work and that they ensure they are re-tested by the Ministry’s recommended retest timeline.

If anyone in the College Community feels their health has been compromised, he/she must make every effort to self-isolate and seek testing from the Ministry of Health.

Once again, a speedy recovery to both (names withheld) as they take care of their health during this difficult time.

Also, please be reminded to obey the established Covid-19 protocols.
