Another Chopping incident

A chopping incident at Berrotte in St David on Monday has left two men hospitalised nursing injuries.

THE NEW TODAY understands that the incident happened around mid-day as a man from Windsor Forest was involved in an argument with them over a missing part in a Distributor.

One of the victims is said to be around the age of 45 and the other is 20.

According to a well-placed source, the men received wounds to both hands and the older one suffered a cut to the left side of his waist which may have touched his ribs.

He said that the attacker complained that a part was missing from the distributor that they were fixing but the men denied any knowledge of it.

“…When he (the attacker) asked them for the part they said it was not there. (The attacker) then went into his vehicle pulled out a cutlass and inflicted the grievous bodily injury to the men”, he added.

The suspect has been arrested and taken into custody at the St Paul’s Police Station.

Grenada has seen a spate of chopping incidents since the island enforced a State of Emergency and lockdown in the battle against the deadly coronavirus.

The latest incident was on Saturday in Munich when a man by the name of “Ziah” was hacked to death by another whose name was given as “Sanchez” allegedly over stolen agricultural crops.
