Police on the sister isle of Carriacou are looking for a woman who gave birth to a baby underneath a house in the Six Roads area and abandoned the infant.
THE NEW TODAY understands that police were alerted to the incident by a resident on the island at about 7.00 a.m. Friday and have started a massive investigation to try and obtain information on who might be the mother of the newborn baby.
“The baby is alive and well,” said a source who did not want to be identified.
There has been no official bulletin put out by the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) on the discovery of the baby who is said to be a male.
According to the source, the baby is currently in safe keeping at the Princess Royal Hospital on the sister isle.
In past years, some mothers in Grenada were known to have discarded newborn babies or fetus of the unborn in pit latrines.
