The New Today

Open letter to Chester Humphrey

After listening to Mr. Chester Humphrey last week I think I’m finally ready to respond to his ranting. First of all I feel I must seize the opportunity to say thanks to Mr. Humphrey for it was men like him, the Honorable Maurice Bishop and others that have helped to create the man I am today.

As a young man it would have been difficult for anyone to move me whenever Chester Humphrey was on the TV or radio. As a student of the bible I believe the Most High God always sends someone to stand up and fight for his people, the poor and voiceless and I believe I speak for most Grenadians when I say, to me, Chester Humphrey was that “Someone”.

I sat down last week and I looked and listened to Mr. Humphrey huffing and puffing at the Grenadian people who refused to be experimented upon like animals with these useless so-called vaccines. He also went on to lambaste GBN reporters for promoting carnival and expressed his aversion for the horrible use of the language by some.

As I listened to the “most eloquent” Chester Humphrey my mind flipped through several different emotions from anger to disgust to amazement to sadness as I heard this same Chester Humphrey encouraging employers to fire workers who refuse to be vaccinated – THE SAME WORKERS CHESTER……THE SAME WORKERS.

He went on to applaud St. George’s University for locking out their unvaccinated workers, relishing that SGU got it right. Well Chester, I happened to be one of the unvaccinated workers that were locked out by St. George’s University and after considering the conduct of SGU and other businesses that did likewise and listening to PM Mitchell, Minister Steele, Dr. Shawn Charles and others and now you, I truly believe that I, our nation and the world stand a better chance with Covid 19 than with the likes of you all.

Every day I think about my colleagues who are catching hell to make ends meet and left to starve with their families for exercising their constitutional rights.

You and Minister Steele have said that people and workers are going to die – news flash! People ARE dying by the dozens and it’s not from Covid 19. I conclude that Covid MAY kill people; the vaccines MAY kill people; but you all WILL kill people for not taking vaccines that have already been declared useless against new variants.

Question: after protecting its bubble by having everyone vaccinated why is there now mass testing at SGU and everyone required to wear masks?

Nonetheless, so at this point I am looking at my onetime hero on TV and I’m asking myself – what does it take to change a man who was once the champion of the working class to now the working class’ worse nightmare? Then I remembered a friend telling me that Chester Humphrey had declared himself the last standing Atheist. Now, if that is the case, I can understand how that change would be possible for 1Corinthians 13:1-3 says:

[1]Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

[2]And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

[3]And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

I also want to point out to you Mr. Humphrey that this sacred book (Constitution of Grenada) that you had waving all over the place, in fact, is the affirmation of the Grenadian people that their nation is founded upon principles that acknowledge the fatherhood and supremacy of God and man’s duties towards his fellow man.

May I invite you to spend a little more time in the PREAMBLE, for in it you will find the true essence of our constitution which all sums up nicely and simply in Matthew 7:12 which, says: Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

I therefore submit that if you Mr. Chester Humphrey do believe in the God that we have affirmed to then, you are not in a position to speak to us on that issue furthermore hold the office of President of our Senate.

So, Mr. Humphrey as I close, may I remind you and your cohorts that my precious Grenada is not jab nation – its God nation and he is in charge. So, my prayer is that God will give you all a chance to repent and do good by the people you have taken an oath to protect and serve who have entrusted you with their lives and resources.

Failing to do so, may Almighty God teach you all a lesson that generations of your families will never forget. AMEN. We’ll chat again soon.
