No one gave any notice to leave

We are contacting you because we have become aware of your two articles concerning the situation at Tyrell Bay Marina.

We are asking you to contact us so that the facts can be properly established. As sailors whose boats have been blocked on the Corion Estate, we have first-hand, factual information that demonstrates that some of the statements published in your articles are not accurate.

If you, or a spokesperson for the Corion family, make specific claims about what happened, you should have concrete evidence to support those claims. It would therefore be useful to make such evidence public, in order to avoid publishing statements that could be considered defamatory.

The situation is actually quite simple: no one ever gave us any notice to leave. At the same time, representatives of the Corion Estate openly reassured us, telling us that nothing would change for us and that we should not worry, while this fence was being constructed.

So why are we still here? For four months, we have been trying to contact them to find a solution — simply to open the fence temporarily so that our boats can be put back into the water, and then close the fence again. We have received no response.

What exactly are they waiting for us to do? We have absolutely nothing to do with their dispute with the marina. So why are we being prevented from leaving?

What interest would we possibly have in doing anything against the Corion Estate, other than asking them to allow us to leave?

Our boats are our homes. We have nowhere else to go. We have absolutely no interest in remaining on land with our boats.

It is obvious that turning us into enemies makes absolutely no sense. So why is this happening?

It is as though they have deliberately created enemies by trapping us here. The situation is simply absurd.

Please ask them these questions directly: What is preventing them from simply allowing us to leave?

That is all we are asking for.
