I chose CHOKO’S

A while ago, on my way to Grand Anse, just opposite the old Cable & Wireless building on the Carenage, I saw this sign that said CHOKO’S SPORTS BAR..BUY 3 BEERS, GET ONE FREE SHOT!!!

I thought, not bad, not bad at all. This was worth checking out. But somehow the time never seemed right. It was only last Wednesday, when a friend and I decided to go have a drink that I thought it was finally the long awaited opportunity to venture therein.

What an experience!! We entered rather hesitantly and were immediately greeted by this very pleasant young lady. Within three minutes we were comfortably seated, ice cold beers in hand. I learnt her name was Prescilla – a much travelled and very multi-functional lady. She’d been cooking for a number of years, however she also does Photography and Designing just to name a few.

We were encouraged to try the lunch and opted for Curried Beef. A bit of a chef in my own rights, having managed a Resort in the past, I could NOT fault that meal. The Beef was tender, well-seasoned and very tasty. The salad was not to be outdone. We were even treated to fresh oranges on the house.

CHOKO is actually the childhood nickname of the owner, Mr. Simon. He had originally owned and operated the Blue Moon Taxi and Car Rental business down in the south of the Island.

Related:  Precilla Noel is a special person

However, the Restaurant business is part of a family tradition, his mother having managed The Ritz Restaurant in Grenville until 1979. Choko therefore felt compelled to carry the mantle and being a shrewd businessman he found the ideal spot.

Just two minutes to the buses which goes in either direction, it is VERY conveniently placed. Given the fact that there are drink specials on various days, a wide range of games including Darts and Checkers and the added incentives of KARAOKE and LIVE BAND ENTERTAINMENT FROM ‘EXPLOSIONS’, all enjoyed in a peaceful and relaxing ambience.

All I can say to you is next time you need somewhere to unwind and let the cares of the day float away, then do as I did…CHOOSE CHOKO’S…

HATS OFF TO YOU, SIMON…JOB WELL DONE!!!
