Cuba is in a lot of trouble. No energy sources, black and brown outs everywhere. No gas to speak of as well. Refrigeration is in peril, so freezers are failing too. How do the Cubans preserve their food?
Education, Government services and even the military cannot perform their due diligence properly. The nation is not functioning. Venezuelan Oil is denied them through the political pressures exacted upon them by America. Sure, the Regime was wasteful, misguided and oppressive. Not a model of well managed propriety. What to do?
Proposal: Canada should INVITE the Nation of Cuba to become a part of the Canadian Federation. Once their economy and social net is provided for, a free democratic election must happen.
If Cubans wish their nation can become the Province of Cuba within Canada. Interesting, eh? Serious way of side-stepping American Expansionism through democratically growing our nation.
Why not?
(a). Cuban and Canadian sensitivities are similar.
(b). Politically both nations flow towards a progressive form of government with attitudes to match.
(c). Canadians own more than 10% of Cuban Territory indirectly already. We would be defending our own property.
(d). Canadians need a place to retire, and Cuba is a good choice.
(e). Canada can assume America’s Military Base giving a true democratic & military presence in the Caribbean. America will have to find another place for their prisoners.
(f). Close enough to Haiti to assist this Island Nation directly as well.
(g). Guarantee Cubans the same opportunities, freedoms and privileges all Canadians experience.
(h). Establish joint police security apparatus with the Cuban Police and military
(i). End all foreign security- military operations in Cuban & International Zones. That includes Americans.
The list can go on and on. Canadians have a great deal more sympathetic understanding of “the Cuban Way”. Our people admire the courage and fortitude shown by the Cuban People.
Actual democratic administrations are freely elected and operating free of economic and political strings. Progressive liberalism over the oppressive conservatism of North America and so-called “communist regimes”.
Do you have the courage necessary to propose such an alliance?
NB: This is not colonialism. It is the constructive spread of Socio-Political Democracy with all its empathetic and charitable capabilities. Build Up the People of Cuba and by doing so build a Canada we can all be proud of.
